We are pleased to confirm that the above event is going ahead this year albeit with a few changes.
It will take place, as usual, on the last Saturday in July (31st), with the fancy dress parade at 2pm to kick it off. Races will commence shortly after for both children and adults and there is prize money to be won! The sports will take place in the Glebe Field (next to the Vicarage) and the afternoon tea in the village hall garden.
The Lastingham vs Spaunton cricket match will take place in the field behind the village hall at 6pm. This is for all over 16s who wish to take part and we supply helmets/pads etc
There are a few adjustments this year following our covid risk assessment: the event will take place exclusively outside, where we have enough space to allow for social distancing in family groups if people desire. Sports equipment will be cleaned between use and, this year, it is bring your own picnic, instead of a plate of food to share.
We are looking for a volunteer to help run the BBQ at the cricket match. The BBQ is, of course, an optional source of refreshment!
There will be the usual programmes for sale with a voucher for the Blacksmiths Arms for the winning programme number drawn during the afternoon.
We are really looking forward to being able to hold another super sports day, which is a much loved event in our village calendar.
